With a vision to become a Learning Organisation, in December, we had wanted to bring the ARCC to into
Self-organized working Groups. These groups would be similar to the Self Help Groups, but it is not exactly that
because the groups will be doing income generation activity along with learning. So was birthed the concept of
GROUP WORK STATION (GWS).In January, we had a meeting with all the staff and we brainstormed with them again about how everyone could work together in their corresponding fields and generate self-employment. The staff made some presentations in January and each of them explained how they would form a team with the students, the alumni and someone from the industry so that they could make it profitable and also what kind of jobs they would undertake and the expected income. Later on, in February 60 students, staff and some alumni gathered together for a whole day and in the morning we had a GWS concept session. In the afternoon the teams sat together and brainstormed and worked out a plan on how it could be done. Some of the group started collecting subscriptions for the group that would serve as capital and they have started to work out plans but we see that the process would happen in about 6 to8 months and the idea is just now sinking into everyone. We may be dry running it for the next 2-3 months and there will be several sessions of brainstorming on how this can be done.
